So, you heard about this service that we offer to help you buy a car through an online GSA auction and you're here to get some questions answered. Here is my attempt to answer the majority of your questions. If you have more questions, please leave me a comment and I will try and update this posting.
What can Car Co do for you?
We are a small car dealership located in Kansas. For a fee, we can bid on GSA Auction cars remotely without you being there.
How much do you charge?
We charge a commission fee of $500 which needs to be paid before the auction, but is refundable if we are not successful at purchasing a vehicle at the price that you specified.
Why would I want to buy a car without being there?
There's deals to be had, but you never know how high or how low they will go. You could go to auctions and feel like you're wasting your time as everything goes too high. By using our service, you can specify your price and know that you are not wasting your time if the auction happens to be going higher than normal that day. Also, we as dealers have access to detailed pictures and explanations of what could be wrong with the product that we can pass on to you. When you're there in person, you do not have these things specifically pointed out.
If we purchase a car through you, how do we get it?
The one thing that we do not do, is pick up and deliver your vehicle for you. You will be responsible for picking up the vehicle and paying for it. If you are purchasing from an auction too far away for you to pick up, I can help you obtain shipping for your vehicle, but you are responsible to pay for the shipping fee. We can go over this in our phone and/or email communication.
Am I obligated to take the car if I get there and it's not what I thought it would be?
Yes. We will give you all of the information that is available to us and will not knowingly purchase a lemon for you. That does not mean that the car will be in detailed, pristine condition. Normally, GSA vehicles are kept up very well and serviced every 3,000 miles. If there are dents, the report that we receive should show that and I will pass that on to you. If it is in poor mechanical condition, it should show that and we would just avoid bidding on a vehicle like that. If the auction company omitted some important information or the auction listing was misleading, we will dispute it so we are not obligated to take the vehicle.
OK, I want to do this....what do I do?
I prefer to work over email as much as possible. I'm a busy, homeschooling, stay at home mom of 5 children managing a small dealership on the side and I don't have much time to visit on the phone. Of course, once we're about to make a deal, I'd give you a call so that we can finalize details, but if you want to ask general questions, please do so over email. Once you're ready to start the search for a vehicles, you need to have an idea of what type of car you'd like (would have to be one that GSA normally has), what your price range is and how far you are willing to travel in order to pick up your vehicle.
